Friendship
America faces an epidemic of loneliness. Our population is growing, but we are not growing more connected to each other. But God has given us a gift and a calling that is an antidote to loneliness: Friendship. Friendship is a way that we care for each other and a way that we grow in discipleship because the practices that keep our relationships with people strong are the same as those that keep our relationships with God strong. In this series we will look at some examples of friendship in the Bible to learn the key practices that build healthy friendship—with our neighbors and with God. On August 24 we shared that Darren Raley, who has served as our Director of Worship for the past 24 years, has discerned God's call to move on from Woodlake UMC and into a new season of life and service. We have been blessed by Darren's ministry here, and will be sad to bid him farewell. Darren has written a letter to share more about his decision, which you can read here.
Darren will continue to serve at Woodlake until late September, and we encourage you to take time in the next few weeks to thank him for his work and wish him well. We invite you to hold Darren and his family, and our church, in prayer in this time of transition.
